Design Brief

PROBLEM STATEMENT

In this project we were told to create a water filtration device which could be used in a natural disaster scenario. Selecting the natural disaster scenario gives an idea of what the filtration device needs to include. Criteria such as the ability to be light-weight, affordable, and access to materials all need to be taken into account when creating the filtration device.

TARGET AUDIENCE

The customers which we aim to target are the people in Nepal after the earthquake of 2015. In this scenario we had to research the geographical location of the earthquake and the people who were affected. Many of the people who were affected by the Nepal earthquake lived in the central region. We were in charge of researching the affected people and coming up with a product suitable to their situation.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

In the earthquake of Nepal in 2015, there was many people who had to leave their homes and find place elsewhere to stay in for the fear of another earthquake. Many people settled in camps and were getting sick because of the water that was available to them. In the affected areas of Nepal, the population density was relatively low. Our design focused on a small individual water filtration system because of the low population density in the affected areas.
